Local Repair, Maintenance, and Re-celling Now Available for bebob Batteries and Accessories
Munich and Bartlesville, October 6th, 2025. Munich-based battery manufacturer bebob has entered into a strategic service partnership with BW Energy and Innovation, a U.S.-based battery testing and evaluation lab providing comprehensive end-of-life battery testing and grading services. This collaboration allows bebob customers across the United States to benefit from local, high-quality battery maintenance, repair, and re-celling services – alongside responsible battery recycling through BW Energy and Innovation’s parent, Blue Whale Materials, a U.S.-based leader in lithium-ion battery recycling and recovery.
As the official U.S. service provider for bebob’s professional battery systems and accessories, BW Energy and Innovation will handle diagnostics, repairs, and also re-celling—the replacement of depleted battery cells with new ones. This feature is unique to bebob batteries and significantly extends product lifespan, reduces costs, and minimizes environmental impact.
Combined commitment to the best possible customer service in the U.S.
For Michael Erkelenz, Managing Director at bebob factory, the partnership with BW Energy and Innovation is a perfect symbiosis: “Customer service, premium quality and sustainability are our top priorities. We’re proud to partner with BW Energy and Innovation, whose focus on technological excellence and sustainability mirrors our own. For our U.S. customers, this service partnership means faster service turnaround times, reduced shipping costs, and a significantly smaller carbon footprint.”
With this new alliance, bebob reinforces its global reputation for durable, high-performance battery solutions tailored to the needs of the film, broadcast, and professional video industries—now with a dedicated U.S. service infrastructure.
Circular Approach – Closing the Li-ion Loop
Depleted batteries from the bebob service operation will be sent to parent company Blue Whale Materials, which uses proprietary technologies to recover valuable materials such as cobalt, nickel, and lithium from spent lithium-ion batteries. Its high-value Blacksand™ product, created through advanced and environmentally conscious recycling processes, is then sent to refineries to extract pure raw materials for new Li-ion cell manufacturing.
Danny Marshall, Lead Manager of Service, Testing, and Evaluation at Blue Whale Energy & Innovation, comments: “We’re excited to support bebob’s U.S. operations with our expertise in battery recovery and repair. Re-celling isn’t just a technical solution—it’s an opportunity to reduce waste, conserve resources, and extend the life of high-performance systems. It fits perfectly with our mission.”
